Katherine M. Kimpel is an Associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Sanford, Wittels & Heisler, LLP. Ms. Kimpel received her law degree from Yale University in 2006.
Ms. Kimpel received her undergraduate degree from Vassar College (B.A. cum laude, History and Political Science, 2000) and her law degree from Yale University Law School (J.D., 2006). During her time at Yale, Ms. Kimpel served as the Managing Editor for the Yale Journal of Law and Feminism. She also served as the Chair of the Student Board for the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization and as the Student Director for the Community Lawyering Clinic, the Education Adequacy Project, and the Street Law Program. Upon graduating from law school, Ms. Kimpel was awarded the Stephen J. Massey Prize for best exemplifying the values of the Yale clinical program.
Prior to joining Sanford, Ms. Kimpel was selected as one of the inaugural Heyman Federal Public Service Fellows. During her tenure as a Heyman Fellow, Ms. Kimpel served as Counsel to Senator Russell D. Feingold, Chairman of the Constitution Subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Ms. Kimpel has also worked for the Commission on Safety and Abuse for America's Prisons, for Cohen, Milstein, Hausfeld & Toll, PLLC., and as a public school teacher for the D.C. Public Schools.
Ms. Kimpel is admitted to practice in Wisconsin and the District of Columbia.
