Stefanie F. Roemer is Senior Litigation Counsel to Sanford Wittels & Heisler, LLP in the Washington, D.C. office.

Ms. Roemer has extensive legal experience in litigation and policy in both the public and private sectors, as well as experience in both civil and criminal law. Ms. Roemer has worked in all branches of the federal government, including the United States House of Representatives, the United States Department of Justice, the United States Department of Treasury, the United States Attorney's Office, the Public Defender's Office and the U.S. Courts.

Prior to joining Sanford Wittels & Heisler, Ms. Roemer worked as a litigation associate at Cohen, Milstein, Hausfeld & Toll, PLLC. In this capacity, Ms. Roemer represented plaintiffs in large securities class-actions cases across the country. Before working at Cohen, Milstein, Ms. Roemer served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia for five and a half years. As such, Ms. Roemer was responsible for handling all phases of criminal prosecution on behalf of the United States government in the D.C. Superior Court, the D.C. Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Before serving as Assistant United States Attorney, Ms. Roemer worked as a litigation associate at Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue.

Ms. Roemer served as a law clerk to the Honorable John Garrett Penn, Chief Judge, United States District Court for the District of Columbia (1994-1996), and to the Honorable Judge Loren A. Smith, Chief Judge, United States Court of Federal Claims (1993-1994).

Ms. Roemer graduated from Brown University (B.A., American Studies, 1988) and obtained her law degree from George Washington University National Law Center (J.D. with honors, 1993). While in law school, she was the Editor-In-Chief & Staff Writer for the Commercial Protection Reporting Service, and co-authored Sharing Bank Secrecy Act Information with States, which was published in the Civil Remedies in Drug Enforcement Report in 1992.

Ms. Roemer is admitted to practice in D.C., Maryland and Pennsylvania.
