Summer Associates

SWH’s summer associates take an active role in our cases. In a typical summer, our summer associates will draft portions of complaints, participate in complex discovery, draft portions of dispositive briefs, participate in mediation and settlement negotiations, and help prepare cases for trial. Summer associates have second-chaired depositions and been part of on-site trial teams. Last summer, an associate worked on and attended a federal discrimination trial in Nashville, Tennessee.

SWH’s summer associate program includes five to six positions in our DC office, two to three positions in our New York office, and will include two summer associates in our San Francisco office beginning summer 2011. We hire both first and second year law students. Our summer program is generally 12 weeks long. We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage minority candidates to apply.

Much like the rest of our team, SWH’s summer associate program have impressive academic credentials and a demonstrated dedication to public interest and social justice causes. Our 2010 Summer Associate Class is made up of: Alex Aronson (Stanford ’12), Eduardo Casal (Harvard ’11), Kevin Love Hubbard (Yale ’12), Nikole Michaelson (Harvard ’11), John Niclau (Columbia ’12), Ashley Rogers (Stanford ’12), and Jennifer Siegel (Harvard ’11). In addition to hailing from Yale, Stanford, Harvard and Columbia, recent summer associates have also attended NYU, University of Michigan, and the University of Pennsylvania.
