Deepika Bains is an Associate in the New York office of Sanford Wittels & Heisler, LLP.
Ms. Bains represents individuals in class actions involving wage and hour, discrimination, and general civil rights claims. Ms. Bains currently represents a teacher in Webb v. East Ramapo Central High School District, in her claims regarding age discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation. She also currently represents a class of low wage gas station attendants in a wage and hour case against one of the nation’s largest independent petroleum refiners.
Prior to joining SWH in December 2009, Ms. Bains worked for two years as a litigation associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell, LLP, where she advocated on behalf of corporate clients in commercial litigation. She also represented individuals on a pro bono basis in wage and hour, death penalty appellate, immigration, and employment discrimination cases.
Before attending law school Ms. Bains worked as a community organizer for the Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition, where she advocated for low-income tenants on housing and neighborhood safety issues.
