Julia Stephanides graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2009 with a degree in English and Communication.
At UCLA, Ms. Stephanides was a member of Phi Beta Kappa honors society. She served as a news reporter for the Daily Bruin, the third most circulated paper in Los Angeles, covering state budget news and campus events. She also devoted her time to raising awareness of pediatric AIDS worldwide as the Public Relations Director for UCLA’s renowned Dance Marathon, an event raising more than $360,000 to fight pediatric AIDS and involving more than 2,000 students. Ms. Stephanides also interned for former New York Times reporter Sharon Waxman at her entertainment news website. Ms. Stephanides fostered her love of environmentalism and of languages in her father’s homeland of Greece, where she spent time scuba diving, working on an organic farm, and improving her conversational Greek. Ms. Stephanides also speaks Spanish.
Ms. Stephanides plans to pursue a career in environmental law and hopes to attend law school in the future.
